ReplyDeleteHaving the education provided by attending BackStage Bridal Pro Academy will boost my confidence in the industry as a newbie. In addition to reading every blog I can find and every book I can get my hands on, having the ability to learn from industry professionals that I have admired for a while now would be an honor. Hearing of their obstacles and success would give me the encouragement that I CAN DO THIS! Everyone had to start from somewhere and I remain positive and always open to learning more. There is no such thing as having too much knowledge, especially in this industry where every element is constantly changing and evolving. In order to become successful, you have to stay on top of those changes and grasp every opportunity there is to enhance your education.
My passion is to be that "go to" planner for brides that are not afraid of trying something new. The motto for my company is, "When you think outside of the box, the possibilities are endless." I truly believe in that statement. If you have your mind set on something, and the ambition to back it up then go for it. Don't worry about fitting in or doing the "norm." Be yourself and everything else will follow. That is what I want to convey to the clients I encounter in this industry. To be able to assist them in transforming their ideas into fruition is the heart felt goal I am after.
Having the knowledge to get them there is my forever evolving process.

ReplyDeleteAs for why I want to attend BackStage Bridal Pro? This has been a dream of mine since it was first brought to my attention on Twitter. Being a wedding planner and designer isn't just something that I just throw out there. The passion runs so deep for me that it truly goes beyond words, however, I'll try to explain it and why attending is so important to me.
Being creative is a my passion and being able to tell someone's story through their wedding or event is what I love to do. My passion is to have my clients walk into their event space and have it speak volumes to their own personality and style. Being able to learn from the best in the industry's best would be dream come true. I'm not a newbie but I'm not an elite planner either. I want to be able to bride the gap between the two and find my own level of comfort and success within the industry that I love so much. There are only so many books and blogs that one can read before you need to learn first-hand how to get things done.
At the beginning of each year, I set goals that I'd like to accomplish by the end of the year. At the beginning of 2012, it was a goal of mine to attend a major conference so that I could learn and grow as a wedding professional. All I want is to learn from the best so that I can grow my company, be successful, do what I love to do on a day-to-day basis and this is the perfect opportunity for me to have that, among people I've looked up to and admired for such a long time.
In this industry, things are constantly changing; trends, fashion, colors, and the like. Knowing how to keep up with the constant change and staying true to who you are, while pleasing your clients, selecting the right clients, and so much more I'd like to know more about and I feel that this would be the perfect platform in which to learn and propel my company!

ReplyDeleteJust read my email about the new scholar program today. I was so excited to hear the news. Here is my chance to attend an awesome event. The very first time I read about Backstage Bridal Pro, I was enthused. One of your first e-mails was the view of Pelican Bay and picture of the car parked in the driveway; I knew it was the training event to attend for 2012. Next time, I read about the lineup from and finest event planners in the country (Diane Valentine, Donnie Brown, and Lynnette Hall-Richardson). My heart began to pound with excitement. I thought I can’t miss out of attending. It was my goal to attend from the very beginning, but unfortunately my monetarily situation did not allow me to enroll. Building a business from the ground up has not been an easy task for me. I want to learn about wedding industry and have the proper direction to grow and develop Grand Elegance Events.
If you had to pick from a bunch of planners wanting to attend BBPRO, my face would have the beam of light, the eagerness in my heart would show. I have following BBPRO continuously and delight with every blog, newsletter and tweet you have done. Yes, I have passion, drive and commitment to be successful an attending this year would more than asset it would be priceless.

Dig deep? Ok, get ready because it is about to get real...
ReplyDeleteIt was so exciting to see this announcement, because for me it was literally an answer to a prayer. I am at a crossroads right now with my business, trying to discern whether or not I can continue to pursue my dream or if I need to give it up completely. I live in a very dead part of California, and I have been working to establish my business without a pool of friends and family to draw from for contacts and leads. I brought many years of events experience from the sports, entertainment, technology, and hospitality industries, but I had very little wedding experience - and it showed! I had no formal training, no focus and made some - ok, I made lots of - rookie mistakes, but I had drive and determination and a truckload of creativity. I signed a handful of clients, learned what I did and did not want to offer for services, and found “my bride” and my niche. However this now may be too little, too late without the help of Backstage Bridal Pro.
Currently I have no weddings on my books. I have had to take a J.O.B. at a retail store to try to make ends meet for myself and my South African fiancé. He is currently unable to work while he recovers from a lung infection, and until I can show that I can comfortably support the both of us our Department of Homeland Security will not grant him entry to the US. I need to get some money flowing in so we can be together. While the part time retail job is... fine, it doesn’t pay my way let alone our way and it doesn’t fulfill me. It is the designing, planning, and production of weddings and events that makes my soul sing! So I have one last shot at supercharging my business. This time I can do it the right way with the appropriate strategies and tools learned at Backstage Bridal Pro. I have the faith, the determination, and the motivation to make this happen. I just don’t have the capital. The only way I can get to BBP is through this scholarship. The ONLY way. Then I have to find a way to get the rest of the fees covered as well, but if I were chosen as the recipient of this scholarship I know that some way some how that would happen too. To have the chance to attend the Backstage Bridal Pro Academy would be life changing for me. For me it means I can start over on a solid foundation. It means I would have the chance to provide for my family in a real way and I could serve my clients more effectively. For me it means Freedom. For me it means Hope.
This scholarship would mean, to me, the chance to learn more. I started my business almost on a whim, and I love what's happened so far. But it's also been completely exhausting to work on building IT up while still working a full-time job. I'd love the opportunity to actually spend TIME with my husband (and my future family) and I think I need some good motivation and guidance in order to learn how to do just that. I've been putting almost 100% of my profit back into my business, and it's starting to really show (I'm gaining some notoriety and traction) but in order to get over that hump I really do need something MORE. This could be the answer. Plus I really just want to meet all these pros I've been chatting with online IN PERSON. ;)
ReplyDeleteWinning this scholarship would be a key stepping stone that I need to take my business to the level needed for sustainable growth. Last year I was in a position to make an investment in an educational experience where I learned a lot but more importantly- I set goals and I IMPLEMENTED what I learned and this year was my best year since I’ve been in business. Getting to this place has not been easy because “you don’t know what you don’t know” and I had to learn many things by trial and error. Being in a position to invest in myself last year was the basis for the growth that I experienced this year. This year making the investment has proven to be more challenging for me and my family as we learned that my sister has an incurable disease and I lost my grandmother to breast cancer. Prayer, ingenuity and tenacity are the tools that I have used to keep a positive mindset, make things happen and keep pushing forward REGARDLESS of adversity.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for the positives but I know that there is more that I need to learn and experience in order to build a sustainable, profitable business that will allow me to be a job creator and one day be a panelist at a conference such as Backstage Bridal. The creative side of wedding and event planning comes easy – mastering the business side of the equation is the difference between success and failure and I want to succeed. Not only for me but for the countless young women who email and call me seeking guidance, encouragement and support in launching their careers and in some cases, starting their own businesses.
Many people frown upon helping other business owners. I do not because when I started out – I was flying by the seat of my pants, armed only with my corporate planning experience, which is a world away from being a successful business owner. My passion is greater than just me or my business – I know that being of service is my calling and I know that part of that service calling is tied to being a rung on the ladder for those who will come after me. Using my blessings to be a blessing to others is an essential part of my life and what I learn and experience at Backstage Bridal Academy isn’t just about me and my goals. It’s about others and their goals and will be passed on to others for continuous improvement of an industry that I love dearly.

ReplyDeleteIn the last few years I've been in this industry I have been working hard not ONLY to become an outstanding Special Events Professional, but also to help others in my city to do the same. That's why I started a second company to help others who needed to conduct their business but may not be able to afford, in this economy, to support the huge overhead cost it takes to run your own business. I offer meeting space in my office to vendors who have a passion for what they do and offer amazing service to their clients. We share and support each other in business and life. I feel passionate about this because I did not have such support when I started out and felt that if we worked together better to get the job done, our clients would be on the benefiting end of that and in return we would gain more business. My husband and I believe in paying it forward and we have been blessed, so we try to be a blessing to others.
With that said the reason I'm entering for the scholarship is I would love to gain more knowledge from your panel of experts and be able to take that knowledge back home and help my vendors continue to grow our businesses. I'm an advocate for continuing education and feel that you can never finish learning and growing better. You only have to put forth the effort to do so. I have a tremendous passion and respect for what I do and I hope to be able to come out and make new connections and a few new friends.
Also with running two companies I'm cash strapped at the moment and the discounted fee would be more than helpful. I'm currently traveling back and forth from California a lot this summer due to the passing of my father. While there handling his business affairs it would be a pleasure to attend this event. ReplyDeleteI would like to attend the Backstage Bridal Pro Academy on scholarship because I feel I need a refresher course and a reboot. I started my wedding planning company a few years ago and absolutely love everything about it. Though I was a novice, I took some training course via a local college and the Association of Bridal Consultants. At this point my business has been placed on the back burner because my father was very ill and unfortunately passed away. I spent my free time helping my mom take care of him and of course wanted to spend as much time with him as possible, that I neglected my networking opportunities and did not promote my business enough. Currently I only have one wedding in the books for July 2013 and it would be great to receive this education via scholarship to jump start my business and refresh the skills that I know I have to have a successful business. I absolutely love helping make a couples wedding dreams come true and believe that no couple or their families should be stressed on such a wonderful day.
Since I only have one wedding in the books for 2013, it is very difficult for me to afford the tuition for this course. The scholarship would greatly help me in taking my business to the next level. This program is what I need and what my company needs to ensure a bright future.

The birth of Butterfly Kisses Events was formed in 2009 after I had recently graduated from college and life smacked me in the face. I was left seeking guidance from God and it was either real estate school or wedding event planning school. Well I did not get my money in time for real estate school (thank God!!!) so I enrolled in U.S. Career Institute’s Wedding and Event Planning Course and the rest is history. Throughout my time at U.S. Career Institute God revealed to me that coordinating and designing events is my passion and it is something that I have been doing for a majority of my life; and I was just writing it off as a “free hobby” I did to assist others just because I enjoyed doing it. I coordinated my first wedding December 2011 and I am forever grateful to the couple that hired me knowing that it was my first wedding. I learned a lot from that event and that was that I did not know anything. I was completely blindsided by the amount of work, time and effort that goes into executing an excellent event not to mention I only charged the couple $80.00. Yes!!! That is right I said $80.00 because I did not know how to properly price my services and I did not want to miss the opportunity to plan an event because I was too expensive. Don’t worry I have definitely raised my prices after walking away with little profit and a tired body I knew things had to change.

What I admire most about this conference is that it covers all bases it is like a crash course of Wedding 101. I do not want to be just another cookie cutter wedding/event planner; Butterfly Kisses Events is a Wedding empire. I want to get to the point that I run my wedding and event planning company full-time and ditch my 9-5, I want to be a wedding/event author, and own a wedding boutique ran by a store manager that will sell beautiful bridal gowns with some of them being my own personal designs. Attending Backstage Bridal is the conference to set the foundation for my business, clients and weddings. It is a wonderful networking opportunity. I want to attend the academy because my business is only three months old and I have a clear and original direction to charter, but I need the expertise to get my business noticed in the sea of wedding planners. When I have a client that wants to host a celebration, I get so excited hearing about their vision and dreams. It takes hours of time, planning and executing, but I put my whole self into making their day into a remarkable experience. My favorite thing to do is find something that they dearly adore/relate to and surprise them by incorporating it into in the celebration. Humble beginnings and chance opportunities have defined my career as a florist but they are also what drives my goals, dreams, and ultimately my passion. I started out over twenty-five years ago as a delivery girl in a small town floral shop, when the head designer had to leave due to unusual circumstances. That departure left and opening for a farm girl like me to learn a new craft. A craft that I have been developing ever since. I started out running deliveries, now I proudly run my own floral business, specializing in weddings and special events. I am a mother of five children, who are all growing up so quickly. With two of my children out of the house and three younger ones maturing everyday I now have more time to work on growing my business. While I absolutely love working on the floral aspect I have begun to be more involved in every aspect of wedding planning. Being blessed with a creative mind I can confidently approach any floral arrangement or design that comes my way however, I don't have the same confidence when it come to the advertising, marketing, and ultimately the business end of my vocation. Brides have opened up their entire event to me and given me the opportunity to walk alongside them as they plan their big day, a privilege and joy I can't even begin to describe. I can honestly say that after twenty-five years in the floral industry, I still sincerely enjoy it. I have a true passion for what I do, creating unique events to fit the couple or the occasion. This passion has also been passed onto my oldest daughter, who is "buying" time so that I can build the business and she can one day join me. ReplyDeletePassion ~ Wedding & Event Planning has been my passion since 1989 when I was a debutant in Atlanta. There was something about the Links Inc. event which did “it” for me. That one affair and the yearlong events leading up to it sparked an undying love and passion in me like no other! I fell in love!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a blessing of all the formal etiquette, guidelines, know how, experience and passion for regal events that one could only dream of. So in 1989 I began Elegant Affairs while in college and did many weddings, bridals showers, baby showers, birthday parties, galas and corporate events from 1989 to 2007 up and down the East Coast!
Drive ~ Determination and drive are what I am made of. I have a determination beyond belief and the perfect drive to go with it. I have overcome obstacles which most would have easily given into however I refused because failure or giving up were never an option. I have survived and conquered Cancer (94), a stroke (07), a mini stroke (11) and single motherhood from day one. I have drive, determination and a spiritual base to get it done!
Purpose ~ For the first time in my life I am trying to figure out my next purpose. After raising my son, five years of healing, a major heart break and having to begin again in so many different arenas of my life I seek a new purpose. In doing so I have consciously decided to breathe life back into my Wedding & Event Planning business full time. I have started repacking and branding my new company of Breathless Moments! Your workshop would definitely provide me with the much needed opportunity and edge to make this happen again as well as fine tune my skills with the industry updates through the years.

I would love to attend the academy because so far my business has only been able to impact women's entertainment and beauty education and my goal is to make a major impact in women's lives. By participating in the academy, I know I will learn how to truly establish myself as a wedding events professional and effect the most important day in a woman's life. That mean a lot to me and regardless of if I am granted this scholarship or not, I will reach my goal of producing mind-blowing weddings and serving brides (especially) and grooms in the best way possible.
